Central Excise wins Cochin Premier League

55th minute strike by Satheesh led Central Excise to victory against Golden Threads and thereby won the Cochin Premier League football title at the Maharaja’s Stadium at Kochi on Thursday.

Two of the best teams, Viva Kerala and Malabar United, had pulled out of the tournament semifinals earlier. Viva Kerala, promoted to the I-League  withdrew as many of its stars returned home after the second division National League’s final phase in Gurgaon.  The Cochin League was stopped for Viva Kerala play the semifinal. Unfortunately, the Viva players were too weary to play in the local league.
