2 Ghanaians to join Viva

VivaFormer Accra Hearts of Oak and Sekondi Hasaacs FC striker Reuben Senyo is set to join Viva Kerala along with his countryman Charles Dzisah, who is a central defender. The 26 year old, Dzisah will be joining from New Edubiase FC.

Senyo scored 33 goals from 37 matches within the first 3 years in Ghana Premier League, paving the way for his entry to the Ghana U-23 team in 2006. In addition, the 25 year old Senyo has the experience of playing in the African Champions League as a member of Hearts of Oak.

Apart from that, Viva has already extended contract of Bello Rasaq. Contrary to reports which linked the Nigerian Bello Rasaq to ONGC Mumbai, the player today signed an extension to his current contract with Viva Kerala. He will rejoin the team in-time in August.

The club expects a top-five finish in the I-League with the inclusion of new players. “We  are aiming a top five finish this year”, Viva Kerala Managing Director Liaquath Ali said adding that the club is on the lookout for an Asian player as well in accordance with the AIFF ruling that one of the 4 foreigners has to be an Asian.

Its great to have Bello resign for Viva. Bello has played for Salgaocar (as captain, Mahindra United, Sporting and the erstwhile Fransa. His NFL/I-League experience will be great for Viva Kerala. But has he left Mahindra or still on loan from them?

Senyo is a regular goal scorer in the Ghanian Premier league and will be a good replacement for Badmus Baba Thunde (who is ineffective against good opposition).

Surprising that Dzisah (from a second division club) has been signed given the number of central defenders in the team (and the team manager wanted another central defender – Asian!). Should have gone for a good holding midfielder or winger!

What about the 4th foreigner (Asian)? There are a few good Central Asian and Australian players available for free transfer.
