BC Roy (U19) National from tomorrow

Karnataka will host the 46th junior National under-19 football championship for the Dr. B.C. Roy Trophy here from December 20.The 20-day long tournament will be held at two venues in Mandya – University of Agricultural Science College grounds and the M. Visveswaraya Stadium. Thirty teams have been divided into eight clusters with the toppers from each qualifying for the quarterfinals, which again will be divided into two groups of four teams each. The top two teams from the two quarterfinal league groups will then clash in the semifinals to be played on January 7 and 8, 2010. The finals are scheduled for January 10, 2010.

The eight clusters are: Cluster I: Jharkhand, Maharashtra & Tripura. Cluster II: Chandigarh, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh & Arunachal Pradesh. Cluster III: Meghalaya, Goa, Orissa & J&K. Cluster IV: Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Assam & Chhattisgarh. Cluster V: Manipur, Kerala & Uttarakhand. Cluster VI: Uttar Pradesh, Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh & Puducherry. Cluster VII: Punjab, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh & Rajasthan. Cluster VIII: Gujarat, Haryana, Nagaland & Karnataka.
