HAL Bangalore were held to a 1-1 draw by KSEB Thiruvananthapuram in the Malayala Manorama Gold Cup Invitation Football Tournament at Seethi Haji Floodlit Stadium Edavanna.

KSEB started attacking from the very first minute of play and managed a corner in the opening minutes. They continued raiding the HAL half very frequently. But the HAL defenders cleverly defended the balls and also managed to clear the ball from three corners kicks.

Both teams played sensibly to keep the scoreboard intact.

In the second half, at 54th minute of the play, KSEB striker Vineeth scored the first goal receiving a pass from Mohammed Razi which was connected to him from captain Anil Kumar.

After the goal, the HAL players come forward to the KSEB half in large numbers and started attacking from the wings using the power of Nigerian strikers Joseph Femi and Fredrick Okwagbe. But none of their attempts gained any dividends.

In the 87th minute, Prince Poulose of KSEB fouled HAL captain Xavier Vijayakumar near the goal area which resulted to a penalty against KSEB. The penalty kick taken by Naveen Babu of HAL found the net going past the KSEB keeper.

Though KSEB made some last ditch efforts to grab a winner, the score remained 1-1 at full-time.

KSEB takes on Amry XI tomorrow in a must win game to stay in contention for a place in the semifinals.
