E K Nayanar Memorial Gold Cup: Air India notch up first win
Air India registered their first win in the E.K.Nayanar Gold Cup edging past Mumbai F.C 1-0 in a group A match played at the Jawahar Stadium, Kannur here on Tuesday.
The decisive goal was scored by Air India’s striker Kailash Patil in the 43rd minute when he fired home after picking up N.D. Opara’s pass from the top of 18 yard box.
Air India successfully sustained their one goal lead and bagged three crucial points to place themselves second in Group A, while Mumbai F.C drew blank in their opening encounter.
Mumbai F.C will now take on Viva Kerala on February 10, while Air India will lock their horns with Mohammedan Sporting on February 11.
