Two goals in the space of three minutes in the dying minutes of the game left Viva Kerala on the receiving end of a 2-1 lose to Andhra Eleven at the VP Sathyan Memorial Football Tournament at Chennai.
It was Viva who took the lead in the 53rd minute through the in form CS Sabeeth, thanks to some excellent work from Mohammed Shafi. Andhra XI had to wait till the 86th minute to find the equalizer. It was BV Vimal who tapped in a cleverly executed free kick from Alfred Tennyson.
Three minute later, Andhra again found the back of the net through a counter attack. It was striker Mohammed Mouzam who lifted the ball over keeper Shahinlal Meloly into the goal.
This goal took Andhra Eleven into the semi finals of the tournament, while the I-League team are struggling with just one point from two games in their bag. They will have to beat the Mohun Bagan Academy on Thursday and wait for the other game’s result to know whether they have made it into the last four.
In another game of the group, Integral Coach Factory comfortably overcame the Mohun Bagan Academy team by 3-0. ICF striker Reagen was the star of the show, scoring a hat-trick. The gaols came in the 36th, 76th and 85th minutes.
