He scored a hat-trick in first match of Santosh trophy 2007 and he did it again in 2008! Meet 24 year old Riju PC from Varam in Kannur who is playing for Tamil Nadu in the last three Santosh Trophies.
Riju PC started his career as a footballer playing for SN college Kannur. He played as a striker Kannur University during 2003 and 2004 and was came out as the top scorer in the second season.
He joined Spirited Youths Kannur where they came out as the league toppers. Soon Riju was spotted for SBI by the coach Ranjit who happens to be from Kannur, and played a season on loan in Chennai League. He was signed for SBI next season where he earned the best player award scoring four goals. This season he moved on to Madras Sporting Union, who were the champions last edition
Playing for Tamil Nadu in Santosh trophy in 2008, the youngster scored a hat-trick against Sikkim in their first match. He repeated it again in 2009 scoring a hat-trick against Rajasthan when Tamil Nadu scored a thumping 7-0 victory. Riju says he was just lucky to repeat it! Riju also represented TN in the 2010 edition and found the back of the post again!
Riju was called in Kerala U 19 and U 21 camps, but he lost out his chance to represent Kerala. He still hopes he will get a call to represent his home state one day.
