Viva Kerala is having a busy time in the transfer market as they signed Air India goalkeeper Sarath EC along with Sarath K from SBI, Chennai for the next season. Sarath K was awarded the 'Best Goalkeeper Award' in the Tamil Nadu State League last season.
The defensive line has been further strengthened with left wing back Sumit Thapa (HAL) signing up for the Keralite team, while India U-19 centre back Amarwant Singh (Pune FC) is also expected to be part of the team. Mohun Bagan defender Rino Anto was also one of the Viva targets, but the Calcuttans didn't release the player who has a contract with them till June 2010.
Viva Coach Sreedharan said, “We are also trying to make two more signings. Negotiations are going on and in a week’s time those signings will be confirmed.”
The Kerala coach added that the budget for the upcoming season has not been released yet. He confirmed, “The management has not disclosed the budget. But hopefully in a few days’ time they will.”
Shahinlal Meloli, Karma T, Noushad K, Sirajudeen C have been all retained for the next season. The management is expecting the remaining players to sign with the club shortly, while the decision on the foreign players will be taken later this month.
