Jammu and Kashmir scored a solitary goal victory over Pondicherry early today. Jammu and Kashmir were held to a 1-1 draw by Madhya Pradesh in their opening encounter and was in a must win situation if they had to keep their hopes alive in the national championship.
Taufeeq scored the lone goal of the match in the 69th minute to help Jammu and Kashmir pocket three points from the encounter. The start of the match witnessed Jammu attacking and creating chances but failing to find the back of the net. In a must win situation Jammu went with all their guns blazing against Pondicherry.
Both the teams played an attacking game and as a result the match ended with seven yellow cards shown to the players of both the teams. The first half went without a single goal being scored and Jammu and Kashmir’s hope of advancing seemed difficult.
