Bihar scored a convincing a 10-0 victory over Gujarat in their Cluster VII match of the 63rd National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy, in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai on Wednesday.
Bihar dominated the entire course of the match and were 3-0 ahead within 15 minutes of the game. They drew the first blood in the 11th minute through Debashish Rai and three minutes later Mohammed Afzal scored to increase the lead to 2-0.
A minute later it was Naveen Thapa who showed some brilliant skills to get the ball past Gujarat custodian to make it 3-0. Gujarat tried hard but all their attempts went in vain as they failed to get their passing right.
Taking advantage of the situation Naveen Thapa scored his brace in the 23rd minute which was followed by Debashish Rai adding his name second time to the scoring sheet in the 35th minute.
With a 5-0 lead in the first half the script in the second half was no different as in the 58th minute Mohammed Shahbaz added his name in the scoring sheet to extend the lead to 6-0 and take the control of the game beyond Gujarat.
Ten minutes later Naveen Thapa scored his third goal of the evening and Debashish Rai found the net two more times in the 78th and 88th minute to take his tally to four goals for the evening. Rajgrih Yadav also added his name in the scoring sheet in the 82nd minute as Bihar pocketed three points from the encounter without any difficulty.
