After playing a goalless first half Mizoram pulled up their socks as they defeated Jammu and Kashmir 3-0 in their III match in the 63rd National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy at the Tiruchirappalli, Chennai on Thursday.
Both the teams tried hard to find the back of the net in the first half but failed as they didn’t get their acts together. After a goalless first half the Mizoram team got their acts together and in the 51st minute took the lead as Lalamunpuia found the back of the net as he was left unmarked.
The 1-0 lead gave Mizoram outfit the much needed confidence and they started dominating the proceedings of the match. They were paid for their hardwork as in the 76th minute Jeje Laleekhlua got the ball past Jammu and Kashmir custodian to give Mizoram a 2-0 lead.
Trailing 2-0 Jammu players started playing an aggressive game and were relying more in tackles rather than trying to have possession of the ball. The final nail in the coffin came in the 88th minute as H Lalrochama added his name in the scoring sheet to help Mizoram score a 3-0 victory and pocket three points.
