Railways scored their second consecutive win in their cluster V match at Thiruvallore of 63rd National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy, on Thursday as the defeated Assam by a solitary goal. Both the teams tried hard right from the start and played an aggressive game.
But it was Railways who drew the first blood in the 39th minute as Amrinder Singh found the back of the net. Arminder received a pass just outside the box and his powerful shot found the far post to give his team a 1-0 lead.
After taking the lead the game was played mainly in the midfield area. With match entering into the lemon break and Railways leading Assam knew it will be very difficult for them to break the Railway defence line.
The second half was no different from the first half and the game saw hardly any move made and shots taken at the goal and the final scoreline read 1-0 and railways entering into the pre quarters.
