Haryana continued their winning momentum, as they defeated Bihar 3-0 in their Cluster VII match at Chennai, to enter into the pre quarters of the 63rd National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai on Friday.
Haryana will now face Tamil Nadu in the pre quarter final match on Sunday.
Haryana started the game on a positive note and drew the first blood in the 8th minute as Surender Kumar had no one marking him as he got the ball past Bihar custodian Indarjeet Kumar Singh.
With a 1-0 lead early on Bihar were under the pressure the score the equalizer but their strikers failed to convert the chances that came their way. As the match progressed Haryana extended the lead through Pradeep Kumar in the 42nd minute to make it 2-0 till the lemon break.
The start of the second half had Bihar dominating the initial stages but their strikers were not effective enough. Just before the final whistle Pradeep Kumar was back in action as he found his name in the scoring sheet for the second time in the evening to give his team a comfortable 3-0 victory.
