Manipur defeated Sikkim 2-0 in their cluster VI match at Thiruvallore on Friday to enter into the pre quarters of the 63rd National football championship for Santosh Trophy.
Manipur took the lead in the 14th minute as Khan Tang Paite was brought down inside the box and referee immediately awarded them a penalty. Paite utilized the opportunity to his best as he found the opening net.
With a 1-0 lead Manipur knew that nothing could stop them from making it to the pre quarters as they went out in an all attacking mode. In the 41st minute Subhash Singh found the back of the net to make it 2-0 for his team.
The match entered into the lemon break with Manipur having better ball possession and a 2-0 lead.
The script in the second half was no different and Manipur never allowed their opponents to settle down as they won the match comfortably.
