Midfielder MP Sakeer has signed a further 1-year contract with Viva Kerala. The schemer was pivotal in Viva's 2nd division campaign and even featured in the Kerala Santosh Trophy team.
Before joining Viva Kerala last season, the player from Araecode was part of Malabar United where is talent went unnoticed. It was only after he joined Viva that he made his mark in Kerala football.
He put in some impressive performances in the 2nd Division which saw clubs like ONGC, Sporting Clube de Goa and Chirag United offering alluring contracts for the 22 year old. However, he declined those offers and will be part of Viva Kerala's I-League 2009/10 season.
Coach A.M. Sreedharan says that Sakeer is "a talented and natural player. He can turn the result of the game at any time during tough games."
