In less than a week after being named the skipper for the upcoming season, Krishnan Ajayan Nair has once again fractured his hand after a collision with Sushant Matthew during a training session.
Speaking to Goal.com, Krishnan Ajayan said, “It’s very frustrating as a player to get injured immediately after recovering from one. I clashed with Sushant and it hurt me on the same hand, which I had fractured towards the end of last season.”
The Kerala star has been sidelined for at least a month reportedly but shall travel with the team to Goa instead of heading home.
“The coach (David Booth) said that its better I come with the team. I don’t want to go back home anyways in this condition again. As a captain, I can stay with the team and help in whatever way I can,” said Ajayan.
The left footed player was full of praise for new coach David Booth and said that his training methods are well received by the players.
“Everyone is speaking highly of the training we have had so far. Hopefully, it shall continue to be so throughout the season. For now, I hope to recover and get back on the field,” added Ajayan.
