Bad light made a pre-mature end to a tempestuous match between State Bank of Travancore and Kerala State Electricity Board in the Thiruvananthapuram District super division league at the Chandrasekharan Nair stadium on Monday.
Both teams hadn’t scored a goal when the match was called off in fading light. However, the fate of the match will be decided by the executive committee of the TDFA. The foul-ridden match saw two red cards.
Noushad Pari of KSEB was sent off in the first half for fouling a SBT player in an off-the-ball incident and in the second half, SBT’s Abdul Hakkim was shown the red card.
The match was insipid though KSEB looked the better side in the first half.
Aggressive start
KSEB started aggressively and created more chances. The side earned two gilt-edged chances in the first half but its strikers messed it up with bad shooting.
Naushad Pari needlessly fisted defender Sajith who had to be carried off the field. Referee Bimal Lazer, by mistake, flashed the red card on another KSEB player following which SBT protested and held up play for about 25 minutes.
The decision was then reversed and Naushad was shown the card. The match was fast becoming a free for all show in the second half before it was called off.
In another match, Black Arrows blanked Keltron 3-0.
