The Asian Football Confederation has decided to celebrate September 1 as the Asian Referees Day to acknowledge the contributions of the persons who belong to the community of ‘Men in Black’ without whom it is not possible to pursue the “beautiful game “ around the world.
Shaji Kurien (Kerala) has been nominated as the Assistant Referee of the year 2008-09 and
T Pradeep Kumar (Tamilnadu ) has been nominated as the Referee of the year 2008 -09.
Both will be felicitated at the prize distribution ceremony after the ONGC Nehru Cup International Football Tournament 2009 Finals on Monday on 31st Aug.AIFF has sent all living Indian FIFA Referees and Assistant Referees a letter of appreciation for their contribution to the game.
