Calicut University's Inter Zone Football Championship kicked off at Corporation Stadium, Calicut on Tuesday.
In the opening match of the tournament, MES College, Mampad defeated Christ College, Irinjalakuda.
In the other matches, Vyasa College, Vadakancheri overcame EMEA College, Kondoti while WMO College thrashed NSS College.
In the late match of the day, Guruvayurappan College edged past MES College, Manarkadu.
The tournament was inaugurated by P Haridas, the Secretary, Kozhikode District Football Association (KDFA). Convener Dr. K Abdul Salam and Union Counselor Yasar Arafat were also present during the occasion.
Medical College team will be the host team for the tournament.
