Dr. Talimeron Aao, the Mohun Bagan legend, has a tournament being conducted in recognition of the wonderful service he has given to the country.
The Ministry of Development for North Eastern region (DONER) have organised the tournament in cooperation with the Nagaland FA and the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
“DONER and Nagaland Football Association are conducting with the blessings of the AIFF a tournament where eight teams from as many north eastern states are the participants,” informed Nagaland FA president Atuo Mezhur.
The tournament is being held in Dimapur where it began on the second of this month and will come to a close on the 12th.
“We did have two earlier editions of this tournament but it has now been revived after a gap of five years or so,” added Mezhur.
The organisers have made certain that none of the participants go empty handed as each would receive a minimum cash prize of Rs, 50, 000.
“The winner gets Rs. 7, 00, 000 while four, two and a lakh each for the second, third and fourth spots. The rest would get Rs. 50, 000 for participating,” said Mezhur.
It is certainly a noble gesture on the part of DONER, Nagaland FA and the AIFF to remember one of the footballing legends of the country.
