Riding high on confidence with two straight wins and after qualifying for the Semi finals, India U 23 will play defending champions Maldives in their last Group A match of the sixth SAFF Cup on Wednesday, 9th Dec 2009. The match will be played at Bangbandhu National Stadium Dhaka and will kick off at 6.45 PM local time.
India U 23, overcame stiff resistance in earlier two games against Afghanistan and Nepal and emerged victorius with improvement in each game. Indian team had a two hours training sessions on Tuesday under the watchful eyes of Coach Sukhvinder and support staff.
Speaking to www.the-aiff.com on the eve of India’s opening match against Maldives, Coach Sukhvinder Singh said “We respect our opponents & will play our normal game.” He added that “we are not concerned as to who would be our opponent in the semi finals.He said that , “We will decide the team for tomorrow’s match keeping in mind the injuries to players and the Yellow cards “.
