Boys Earn a point After going down to a solitary goal against Afghanistan, the India U-19 boys came up with a better result as they managed to hold the Sri Lanka U-23 side to 0 – 0 draw. Both the sides had equal opportunities and the defensive players remained the busiest throughout the day.
India’s Jeje Lalpekhlua came closest to score as his shot struck the crossbar minutes after the second half started.
With one point in two matches India find themselves in the third spot in Group B. It is now more of a do-or-die situation as only a win by atleast two goal margin against rivals Pakistan can see the boys advance to the semis.
The match between India and Pakistan will be played on Tuesday.
Women on the run
Indian Women’s team continued their dream run in the South Asian games in Dhaka. After pulling of a splendid victory against Sri Lanka in the opening match, the Women in Blue beat Pakistan with the scoreline reading 6-0.
Bem Bem Devi pumped in a hattrick while Susmita Mallick scored a brace as India sealed their second victory on a row.
In the match, India takes on Nepal on Tuesday at the MA Aziz stadium in Dhaka.
