Mohammedan Sporting beat Mumbai FC 1-0 and entered the semifinals of the E.K. Nayanar Memorial Gold Cup all-India football tournament here on Saturday. Eduardo Escobar netted the winner in the 40th minute.
Mohammedans scored five points in Pool ‘A’, two points behind Viva Kerala, which had already moved into the last four. Reigning champion Air India finished with four points, while Mumbai FC totalled one.
On Sunday, the Pool ‘B’ preliminary leagues gets underway with a match between Pune FC and Chirag United.
