Chirag United blanked Shillong Lajong F.C to register their second straight victory in the E.K.Nayanar Gold Cup played at the Jawahar Stadium, Kannur here on Wednesday.
The Brazilian duo of Edmilson Marques and Josimar da Silva Martins once again did the trick as they bagged one goal in each half to take Chirag to one step closer for a semi-final berth.
The Kolkata side are at the top of group B table with six points from two matches and will just need a point against East Bengal in their last group B league match to see them through to the last four.
Edmilson put the Subrata Bhattacharya coached in front scoring in the 37th minute, while Josimar confirmed Chirag’s victory netting in the 85th minute.
