Town Football Club, Pathanapuram (now rechristened Travancore FC) won their maiden Kollam Premier League district football championship on last Wednesday, 16th of February.
The club finished the season with 5 wins and a defeat from 6 matches and finished one point ahead of their namesakes, TFC Thiruvallapuram.
In the last league match, the 2 clubs faced each other and the team from Thiruvallapuram got the upper hand and won 2-1. But that wasn't enough for them to finish on top of the table.
The league was played out among 8 teams from the district out of which 2 teams were suspended from participating after they failed to report for their matches.
TFC's head coach and ex-India International was pleased with the way his boys performed in the league. "It was my first challenge as a coach and I am extremely happy that we have won the Kollam League," said Vinu.
Travancore FC's center forward Vinod who scored goals for fun in the league was judged the best player of the league , while Salaam of TFC Thiruvallapuram grabbed the award for the best goal keeper. Vinod was the top scorer of the league with 13 goals from 6 matches.
