While in Group B, ONGC FC continued their unbeaten streak with a convincing 3-0 win over Delhi League champions Hindustan FC being held at Dr.Ambedkar Stadium.
At half time,ONGC was leading 1-0. With this win ONGC is topping the table with 7 points from three matches. Hindsutan's aspirations to move to the final round was jolted with this defeat and they are now in 5th position with four points fro four matches.
ONGC FC scored in the 4th minute when a lapse by Hindsutan defence allowed unmarked Nigerian Striker Babatunde to head in of a corner kick. Hindsutan FC sorely missed their former junior international defender Jagbandhu Modi who was unavailable due to two yellow cards in previous matches.His absence weakened Hindsutan FC defence.
Former Indian International midfielder Jatin S Bisht's clever pass to ONGC's second goal. Substitute Bikash Jairu trapped and scored with a rising angular shot in the 73rd minute.Four minutes later, SK Tarif Ahmed made it 3-0 when he headed in a defence splitting cross from the right.
Ex-Viva Kerala striker Babatunde ,Gour Naskar (Both of ONGC) and Hindsutan's Nirmaldeep, Nathan Onyeka were shown yellow cards by match referee Mohammed Basheer following infringements.
In the Group C, Gauhati Town Club defeated Mumbai United by a solitary goal scored by Akum Ao in the 13th minute of the play. This was Mumbai United's first defeat in the I-League 2.
Meanwhile Gauhati's first win of the season gave them four points from the four matches played in the second division. Thre will be no matches to be played tomorrow. The league will resume on 8th April.
