The Kerala State Under-18 Football Championship for Valsamma Zakaria and Seethakrishnan Nair memorial trophies hosted by the Idukki District Football Association kicked off at the High Altitude Sports Training Centre at Munnar, Idukki on 10^(th) May.
In the opening day of the tournament inaugurated by the former Kerala Santosh Trophy player and coach TA Jaffer, Kannur, Ernakulam and Kasargod defeated Wayanad, Pathanamthitta and Palakad respectively.
On Tuesday, the second match day, Ernakulam won their second match, this time against Kasargod (5-4), while Thrissur under veteran coach Peethambaran and hosts Idukki won their opening matches.
On Wednesday, Kozhikode takes on Kottayam while Kollam plays Malappuram at the HATC, Munnar. High Altitude Training Centre inaugurated 2 years ago by the State Sports Minister Vijayakumar, is hosting the first major tournament. The centre is located at an altitude of 1460 meters above the sea level. The work on the centre began in 1995 and was finished at a cost of 58 million.
