The match saw Viva Kerala striker Felix Chimaokwu, score his first goal of the season, against his former teammates. The match also witnessed Viva Kerala’s Ghanaian defender Charles Dzisah receiving marching orders from the referee after conceding the injury time penalty that was converted by Odafe Okolie.
It was in the 15th minute that Felix rattled the Churchill Brothers net. Ummer Farooque who has now emerged as a worthy replacement for Sirajudeen C in the midfield chipped the ball to Felix who put the ball past the Churchill Brother goal keeper Lalit Thapa.
Viva kept on creating chances and Felix could have doubled their lead, but was denied by Lalith Thapa. Meanwhile, Churchill's Odafe Okolie was denied by the post.
Odafe who created havoc in Viva penalty area during the closing moments of the match, was pulled down by Charles Dzisah in the box earning his second booking of the match and giving away an unnecessary penalty that denied Viva Kerala their first win of the season.
This was Viva Kerala’s fourth successive 1-1 draw of the I-League 2010-11. Earlier they had played out 1-1 draws with Air India, Pune FC and HAL Bangalore. The team thus has four points from five matches.
