Josco FC won their second major trophy in two months time as they shocked defending state champions State Bank of Travancore (SBT) 3-0 to win the 35th Kerala State Club Championship for NI David Trophy at the Corporation Stadium, Thrissur.
Josco's foreign striker Pounbia Mamadu opened the scoring for the Kochi based side in the 9th minute and C Sajith doubled their advantage in the 40th minute. The rout was complete with a 91st minute strike from Jeribe Kalechi. After the match, the Bankmen were left thinking where everything went wrong for them while Josco FC, backed by the Josco Jewelery Group proved once again that they are the club to watch from Kerala.
Josco FC had earlier won the Dhronacharya Trophy during the Navy Week held at Ernakulam.
Earlier SBT had entered the finals of the tournament by defeating another Kochi based team, Golden Threads , 4-3 with the help of a tie breaker. The scores were 0-0 after 120 minutes of football between the both teams.
Josco FC made their way into the finale by overcoming Central Excise 3-1. It was Lijo Stephen who began the scoring for Josco in the third minute and was followed by goals from Mamadu and Kelechi.
