Chirag United Kerala’s midfield duo Usman Ashik and Shahir S have booked their tickets to Kolkata to take part in a trails conducted by the AIFF Technical Director Rob Baan for the India under-22 national team that would play in the qualifiers for the inaugural AFC U22 Asian Cup 2013.
The two are part of a 64 member list published by the All India Football Federation who were selected to participate in the week long trails at Pailan World School, Kolkata which would kick off on March 3 and last till March 8, 2012. The players will be short listed by Rob Baan and Colim Toal, the Head Coach of Youth Development, and will be called for a preparatory camp later.
Usman has been a finding for the Kerala club this season, first coming on as a substitute and later breaking into the starting eleven at the young age of 18. He is an explosive winger and is a great feeder of the ball for the forwards. Meanwhile, Shahir is yet to make his competitive debut for Chirag.
