Meghalaya scored a late goal as they defeated Uttar Pradesh in a Cluster II match of 63rd National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy at Coimbatore on Tuesday.
In a dull and drab affair both the teams failed to get their acts together and as a result there were hardly any moves made.
The game was played mainly in the mid field area and there were no clear shots at the goal. Both the custodians had hardly any work to under the bar and were never threatened by any powerful shots from the strikers.
With not a single goal scored in the first half the script in the second half was no different as both the teams failed to pump up the momentum of the game.
But in the 81st minute Meghalaya were awarded for making a substitution in the 60th minute as Timmy Ryngkhlem found the back of the net to give his team a 1-0 lead and help them pocket three points.
