Delhi’s poor run in the Cluster V continued as they suffered their second consecutive defeat at Thiruvallore on Tuesday while MP & Mizoram had to settle for a draw. Delhi led by India striker Sunil Chettri lost to Assam by a solitary goal.
Delhi 1-2 Assam:
Delhi gifted Assam the lead as in the 12th minute as a shot from Raju Kunwar from the centre line had Delhi custodian misjudging the ball completely.
Delhi players once again failed to get their acts together in the first half of the encounter and never had a shot at the opponent’s goal. With match entering into half time the score card read 1-0 and Assam knew that the victory was theirs.
The start of the second half had Assam playing more dominating football. The victors extended the lead with just six minutes on to the second half with Durga Boro capitalizing on the situation and getting the ball Delhi custodian.
Delhi though pulled on back through Amjad in the 88th minute but it was too late for them as they once again paid the price for their own mistakes.
Madhya Pradesh 2-2 Mizoram:
In Trichy Madhya Pradesh conceded goals to as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Mizoram in their Cluster III match today. Madhya Pradesh took the lead in the 11th minute through Somu Rajak but Jeje Laleekhlua scored the equalizer in the 20th minute.
Both the teams played an attacking game and as the end of the first half had both the teams tied on 1-1.
The script in the second half was no different as Madhya Pradesh took the lead in the 61st minute through Somu Rajax. But their happiness was cut short in the 89th minute as
Zaidin Nawia Hmar converted from a penalty kick to score the equalizer and share a point each.
