Tamil Nadu shall bank on their goalscoring prowess when they face Goa in the second semi-finals of the 63rd Santosh Trophy later this evening. And the team would be looking forward for another magic by strikers Riju and Muthu
The hosts have scored a total of 34 goals and have conceded only thrice in the seven games played so far in the tournament.
Speaking to Goal.com, coach P.Thulasi said, “We have a good record so far in the tournament as the goals have been coming and we have a mean defence. Goa are a good team but, we shall go all-out from the start.”
Riju has been the topscorer in the competition so far and the coach throws some light on the background of the player.
“He is from Kerala. He used to play for State Bank of India and now plies his trade for Madras Sporting Union. He is a very talented boy.”
The coach was very pleased with the showing of his I-League contingent and had special praise for skipper Kalia Kulothungan.
“All of them are highly talented players and very disciplined. Kulothungan leads by example.”
If Tamil Nadu beats Goa this evening, they have the chance to win their first Santosh Trophy in front of their fans.
