Titanium defeated Coastal Club 3-0 in the Thiruvananthapuram district super division league here on Tuesday.
Renjith Kunnamel (20th), Usman (30th) and Cleetus (60th) scored for the winner. This is Titanium’s third win and is currently placed third in the league.
Titanium initially struggled as Coastal defended with zeal. The defenders bottled up the Titanium strikers Usman and Dinraj, denying them space inside the box. As a result many of the moves of Titanium fizzled out inside the box.
Coastal looked dangerous in counter attacks and the aging Titanium defence had a harrowing time in keeping the ball from harm’s way.
But as the match wore on, Titanium gained supremacy in the midfield and began to dominate the match. Renjith broke away to slot the goal past the onrushing goalkeeper in the 20th minute.
The goal perked up Titanium which attacked with more vigour. Usman increased the lead in the 30th minute in a goal mouth melee. It was tale of missed chances for Titanium in the second half. But Cleetus completed the tally for Titanium with a volley from the top of the box in the 60th minute.
