Aswathi PR, who has won the Kerala Football Association's (KFA) award for the best women footballer in the state, is set to represent India. But she won't be playing any football as she will represent the country in another sport - Judo!
Aswathi, daughter of Pazhayarikandam Ramanan, is a tenth grade student at the Vellayani Ayankali Sports School, is selected to represent India in the Asian Youth Judo Championship which will take place at Lebanon in November.
She won the gold medals in the Junior Judo Championship last week, National School Meet and Sub Junior Judo last year representing Kerala. This was the first time ever Kerala came first in judo in the all 3 competitions.
