In the 2009 edition of Subroto Cup being held at New Delhi, Malabar Christian College School, Kozhikode, representing Kerala were held to a 1-1 draw in their last match which eliminated the team from the tournament on goal difference rule.
The MCC School Team was playing a do-or-die match against Maharashtra with only a win would help them to progress. The team after losing to Tripura, made a strong comeback defeating Delhi Air Force School 3-0. They were also held to a draw by the school from Sri Lanka.
In another match played on Friday, Orissa overcame Jharkhand 3-1.
