Najeeb to coach Malabar United

Former SBT coach N.M. Najeeb has been appointed as the coach of Malabar United FC.

The former Indian international had a considerable amount of success during his stint with SBT as he helped them to qualify for the National Football League twice and won the Kerala State League and the Kerala State Club Championships among other things. He was looking after the SBT junior team after he resigned as the coach of their senior team and eventually got the call from the Calicut-based club.

“Our aim will be to perform well in the present season and we have some experienced players in the squad like Jithesh CK, Jacken Sebastian, Firoz, Jaffar, etc.,” he told IndianFootball.Com. Malabar United also has two foreign players presently on trial at the club - Wigan from England and Nani from Ghana.

The club played a friendly against Viva Kerala on Monday at the Corporation Stadium in Calicut but lost the match by two goals. Nigerian striker Reuben Senyo and Player of Indian Origin Patrick Raman Sisupalan scored the goals for the I-League side.
