In a bid to attract the young generation into the game of football, Calicut Corporation started a project that will give training for kids from 3 regions of the city.
In the first phase of the project, 35 students from Government Ganapat School, Kallai will be benefited. Coaching will be done by yesteryear footballer Kadiri. The coaching program was inaugurated at the Govt. Ganapat School grounds by the Secretary of Kozhikode District Football Association(KDFA) - P Haridas.
Children from the villages of Kallai, Payyaanikal and Kutichira falls under the Kallai training camp which will last for 45 days. KDFA's former member Kabirdas will be in charge of the camp. Calicut Corporation Standing Committee Chairman, Kanangot Haridas, was also present during the event.
The authorities informed that second and third phases of the program will get underway after the completion of the Kallai camp. The Corporation had earlier given swimming lessons for the children from different schools in and around the city.
