34th Kerala State Club Championship will kick-off at Corporation Stadium, Thrissur on 30th Nov 2009.
The opening match will see SASC Wayanad take on BASCO Malappuram at 6 30 pm under temporary floodlights. KSEB (Tvm), Josco (Ekm), AFC FC (Pta), Titanium (Tvm), Sesa (Klm), Central Excise (Ekm), Malabar United (Ekm), Dist. Police (Can), Golden Threads(Ekm), Chandni FC(Kkd), ACME(Kgd) and SBT(Tvm) getting direct entry to the Pre-Quarters while Gymkhana (Tcr), YWSC(Alp), Cosmos (Ktm), V Zeiko SC (Idk), PSFC(Pkd), Vyasa College (Tcr), SASC(Wyd), and BASCO(Mlp) will have to play knockout.
State Bank of Travancore won the title last year defeating Viva Kerala. Viva Kerala will not be participating this time.

It will be interesting to find out what are the criteria for entry into the Kerala State Club Championships.
Does all district winners gain direct entry into Pre-Quarters? Then what about Cosmos, Zeiko, etc?...they are also district winners! How come some districts have multiple clubs gaining entry?
Interesting to see Josco (who didn't even play in the Cochin Premier League) and Basco (who finished 4th in the Malapuram District)...
Given that it is a knock-out tournament and looking at some of the clubs playing, one needs to ponder as to why clubs like Cochin Port Trust (Ekm), Black Arrows (Tvm), Leader Arts & Sports Club, Universal (both Kkd), Town FC Pathanapuram, and one more club from Malapuram (either MES College, ASC Areekode or Evergreen Manjeri) are not being entered in the championships!!!
If there are no steadfast rules, why not give entry to a Combined Universities team, a Combined Schools team and a Combined SAI team? It will defintely give more exposure to promising youngsters. But then it's a "Club" Championship...
When will Kerala ever have a Professional State League?Would love to be involved in a project like that...

I appreciate your comments and completely agree with your suggestions. District football associations and KFA are managed by some of the old fashioned, unprofessional illiterate peasants who doesn't have any thought leadership nor managerial skills for the development of football in kerala. Some of the football association members have their own clubs which enters directly into state league, federation cup qualifiers and even NFL div B. The idea of state level school, college level league tournaments, combined teams from school/college levels would definitely help gain publicity among youngsters and improve talent.....I would welcome any ideas to collaborate together with interesting folks like you and work with media to publish the best practices of how football is developed in other countries and showcase the wrong doing by the highly idiotic management of kerala football association.
