Farok at Calicut will hold All India Sevens Football Tournament for the MRC Gold Cup from January 31, 2010. The matches will be hosted by the Nellore Floodlight Mini Stadium which has a capacity of more than 10,000 people.
The tournament in which 24 teams from around the country participates will be organised by the Farok Cricket Club. “A part of income from the tournament will be used to improve the standard of education and sports and to fight poverty of the village,” said the organisers in a press conference here.
The winners of the tournament will bag an astonishing 100,000 Rupees along with the MRC Gold Cup. The runners-up will be awarded Rs. 30,000. This is for the first time in Kerala that a prize money of around 100K will be given away for a single sevens football tournament.
Along with the sevens tournament, another tournament which will have the teams which qualified for the Keralotsavam Football finals of this year will be also held. The teams from Farok, Cheruvannur-Nallalam, Bepore, Kadalundi, Olavanna and Ramanatukara will play in this tournament. The winner will be given Rs. 10,000 and runners-up Rs. 5,000.
