Travancore Titanium drubbed Golden Threads for 2-1 and entered into the quarterfinals of the GV Raja Football Tournament 2010 held at University Stadium in Thiruvanandapuram. In a match where Titanium displayed a descent play, several chances were missed by Golden Threads forwards and made a way for Titanium's victory.
Within the 10 minutes of the game, Titanium's Usman headed them to 1-0. A clear cut cross from their striker Ebin Rose from the left flank was headed by Usman through the center of the goal post befuddling Golden Threads custodian.
After the goal, Golden Thread's players tried to hit back by consecutive attacks. Golden Threads equalised the score from a free kick they got in the 20th minute. In the first half, both the teams got several chance and had an equal possession.
In the second half, Titanium played aggressively and Golden Threads tried their best to stop the attacks from their opponent. But Golden Threads hopes to qualify into quarterfinals were nailed by Dinraj Kumar in a melee in front of the goal post. From a good cross of Tinson Justin, Dinraj Kumar scored and pave way for the victory of Titanium in the 75 th minute of the game.
In the next match on Friday, MEG Bangalore will vie Trivandrum IX.
