Chirag United confirmed their semi-finals berth after playing a 1-1 draw with East Bengal in their last group league match of the E.K.Nayanar Gold Trophy held at the Jawahar Stadium, Kannur here on Thursday.
With this draw, Chirag have now amassed seven points from three matches and are placed at the top of the group B table, while it was second successive draw for the Federation Cup champions as they find themselves at second spot with two points and will have to win their last league match against Lajong F.C to see them through to the last four.
Edmilson Marques put the Subrata Bhattacharya coached side in front scoring at the stroke of half time (42nd minute) from the spot, while Abel Hammond restored the parity for East Bengal in the 69th minute converting from the spot.
