Anil Lajong scored a goal in each half as Shillong Lajong F.C defeated Viva Kerala in the second semi-finals to set up a clash with Chirag United in the Grand Finale of the E.K.Nayanar Gold Cup.
The Lajong’s Nepalese recruit put his side in front scoring in the 34th minute when he headed in of a Niwan-O-Gatpoh cross from the right flank, while he confirmed Stanley Rosario coached side victory in the 85th minute when he easily slotted in the winner after picking up a pass from Roming Thanga to seal an impressive victory over the Kerala based side. It was also a superb performance by Lajong’s custodian R Lalthummawia, who pulled off some brilliant saves to keep Lajong always in front.
Lajong was certainly the better side today and dominated the proceedings right from the word go, while Viva Kerala failed to produce the same magic what they did comprehensively in the group stages.
The finals will be played on February 24.
