Fixtures for the final round of the I-League 2009-10 season has been released and Viva Kerala are to play Kingfisher East Bengal at Kolkata on May 27, 2010. The matches which will be held on May 27 and 28 will start at 4:00 PM IST
Viva Kerala are already safe from the relegation axe, thanks to the head-to-head rule which enables the Kerala team to stay above Lajong FC even if Lajong wins their final match and Viva loses theirs. If two teams have the same number of points, then by considering the result of the matches between the concerned teams, the team securing the highest points in these matches placed higher - the I-League regulations says.
As Viva Kerala has beaten Lajong FC at home and both the teams drew at Shillong, Viva has the upper hand among the two. But the fates of four other clubs - Air India, Mumbai FC, Shillong Lajong FC and Sporting Clube de Goa - will only be known when the referee blows the final whistle on the final match day of the I-League 2009-10.
