The idea of traveling through the Malabar came when a friend of mine sent me pictures of some banners supporting various countries. Fans of various soccer playing nations have spent huge amount of money for printing and mounting these banners.
Image not recovered: article-2-1These banners show the real passion of the people in the northern Kerala for football. So in order to get a first hand account of the celebrations, I decided to travel through the main Soccer loving districts of Kerala i.e. Palakkad, Malappuram and Kozhikode. The idea was to pick up as many news related to World Cup football, to meet fans, find out the World Cup special merchandising and to understand in detail various local soccer clubs’ activities.
For the next few weeks, I will be writing about my experiences at FootballKerala.com with, I would say World’s craziest fans of football.
