Kerala’s young forward CS Sabeeth has been named in the 23 member Indian team for the AFC Challenge Cup 2012at Kathmadnu, Nepal by the national team coach Savio Medeira. The players for the event that is a ticket to the continental competition for smaller teams in Asia were selected after a preparatory camp in Dubai where they played international friendlies with Oman and Azerbaijan.
The team includes youngsters like Churchill Brothers SC’s Lenny Rodriguez, Pune FC’s Gurjinder Singh and Sporting Clube de Goa’s Adil Ahmed Khan, along with Sunil Chhetri, Nirmal Chhetri and Lalrindika Ralte who have recovered from injuries prior to the tournament. Meanwhile Clifford Miranda and Baldeep Singh were left out by the new coach.
India are clubbed with North Korea, Tajikistan and Philippines in the tournament that will be held from March 8 to 19, 2012.
