Nayanar Cup tickets go on sale

Ticket sales for the fourth EK Nayanar Memorial Gold Cup went live from today, with Malayalam’s legendary actor Mammootty inaugurating the process at the Town Hall, Kozhikode. The tournament is scheduled to kick off on March 9, 2012 at the EMS Corporation Stadium, Kozhikode.

The ticket rates ranges from Rs. 30 for chair to Rs. 2500 for the gallery rostrum. The season ticket is priced at Rs. 300. The Kozhikode District Co-operative (KDC) Bank will oversee the sale of tickets. The tickets will be available at the Kozhikode District Football Association (KDFA) office opposite the EMS Stadium and from the main and evening branch of KDC Bank and their other branches at Mavoor Road, Balussery, Bepoor, Feroke, Kakkodi, Kunnamangalam, Mavoor, Medical College, Mukkam, Naduvannur, Perambra, Ramanattukkara, Thamarassery and Vadakara from Monday.

The fourth edition of the tournament, this time held at Kozhikdoe instead of Kannur as part of the 20th Party Congress of the Commmunist Party of India (Marxist) will kick off at six in the evening of 9th March. All matches in the tournament will be held under floodlights. I-League clubs Mumbai FC and Air India have confirmed their participation in the tournament; so does the Kerala Football Association’s (KFA) Kerala team and Kolkata’s BN Railways.

The talks are ongoing with Sporting Clube de Goa, Pailan Arrows, Chirag United Kerala and HAL Bangalore and the outcome will be known in a couple of days, informed the organising committee at a press conference held in Kozhikode on Saturday.

The tournaments offers the winners Rs. 15 lakhs and the runners up Rs. 10 lakhs. The best player of the tournament will get Rs. 10,000 and every man of the match award will earn Rs. 5000. There will be also live telecast of the tournament from the semi final stages in Kairali TV, a leading Malayalam television channel.

A Pradeep Kumar MLA (Chairman of the organising committee), TP Dasan (General Convenor), MEB Kurupu (Secretary of KDFA), KJ Mathai (President of Kozhikode District Sports Council), Thottathil Raveendran, O Rajagoapal, A Moosa Haji, PP Aboobaker were present for the press meet.
