Pune FC have made the kind of start which can possibly be described as ‘strange’. They have mustered a total of 5 points from their 6 games played courtesy of 5 draws! The loss to Air India apart they have dominated most of the matches and yet come out with 2 points dropped.
Their last match against league leaders Dempo also saw them putting up a brave performance, but there is an air of anxiety creeping up among the supporters as these points dropped could come back to haunt them.
Goal.com caught with Pune midfielder Anees, who refuted claims that too many draws have had a negative effect on the team. He reckons its only a matter of time that the ball starts crossing the line.
“We are a very hard working team. We work hard throughout the match, every game. Even though we have had a series of draws which does not warrant well for the points table, we remain confident that we will soon start winning matches.”
Anees maintains that their results don’t give a real picture of their performances.
“We have dominated most matches and in very match we have had chances to score but we haven’t been clinical in front of goal. We need a little bit of luck to convert these good performances into wins.”
Pune FC host the unpredictable Shillong Lajong who sit mid table in 7th position, on the 8th of November. As we close in on the end of the first stage of the league, it would be a good time for Pune get the little details right.
