Delhi League champions Hindustan FC suffered a 1-2 defeat against Sesa Football Academy in the opening group B league match of the I-League 2 North played at the Dr. Amdedkar Stadium,Delhi on Saturday.
Hindustan FC took the lead in the 7th minute through Mahender Rawat after picking a Musibau through pass , while Israil Gurung leveled the terms for the Goan outfit in the 42nd minute. After the lemon break , Sesa Football Academy were awarded a penalty in the 65th minute , when Israil Gurung was brought down in the box by Hindustan defender Anil Bara and Savio D Carneiro converted from the spot in the 66th minute. Anil Bara of Hindustan and Savio Carneiro of Sesa Football Academy were shown the yellow card following infringements.
In the second match of the opening day, former Delhi league champions New Delhi Heroes thrashed Simla Youngs F C 5-1. The highlight of the match was a fine 3 goal scoring by Nigerian Baba Tunde Oladele who struck in 34th, 88th and 90th minutes. Heroes Nigerian Chargles Agware open scored 1-0 in the 13th minute. Medio Jatin Rai struck 2nd goal in 84th minute. Simla Youngs Ligo Chukwliogbuka reduced margin 1-2 in 35th minute.
On the second day of the qualifiers, Amity United F C Haryana scored a solitary goal victory over Indian National F C Delhi in Group B.
At lemon break both teams were leveled goalless. In the initial half proceedings both teams were engaged in a listless soccer and failed to make any serious move against each other , however after mid session Amity United made inroads in the opponents citadel through good moves initiated by trio-Monday Ugbuji, Parveen Arora and Useni Joshuao but they failed to convert the chances. National nippy left winger Danny Lalduhawma and Gyan Moyan could not capitalize easy chances.
On changing ends Amity United wasted good easy chances while striker Useni Joshuo fumbled inside the box only to beat rival goalee Karma Tshering Lepcha . the all important winning goal came in the 77th minute through Udhaya Surya who capitalized of a nice through pass sent by Useni Joshuo from the right flank.
Indian National Arjun Pandit and Satnam Singh and Amity’s Jatinder Singh were shown yellow cards by match referee Debaratan Meetei following infringements.
