Emil Benny breaks record as Calicut edge Thrissur Magic 2–1
Calicut FC won 2–1 away to Thrissur Magic FC in normal time on Saturday, extending their points total to eight after three matches.
Calicut FC beat Thrissur Magic FC 2–1 in Super League Kerala at Corporation Stadium, Thrissur, on Saturday, with Abdul Samad PP scoring the late winner in the 91st minute.
Emil Benny had earlier scored the fastest goal in Super League Kerala history - within 48 seconds of kick-off to give Calicut the lead at Thrissur.
But the home side then equalised through Silajit Santra in the 61st minute only for Samad to strike the last-gasp winner and maintain Calicut's unbeaten start to the season.
The result gives Calicut eight points from three matches. Their season began with a 2–0 home win over Thiruvananthapuram Kombans FC on 26 September, followed by a 1–1 home draw with Malappuram FC on 2 October, which they won on a shootout.
Thrissur are bottom of the table and remain on one point from three matches, level with Malappuram FC, who have a game in hand. Thrissur lost 0–1 away to Kannur Warriors FC on 25 September and drew 0–0 at home to Forca Kochi FC on 1 October, losing the shootout.
